Until 20 years ago a small fishing Village, has grown since then to the main tourist centre of Phuket.
With its 3 km long white sandy beach and the extension on the right side to Kalim, another 400 meter stretch of sandy beach with surf break, Patong has one of the best beaches on the island.
Patong Beach has the busiest nightlife, good shopping, top shows and much more.
The fishing Village has grown from a few huts to middle sized city. Hotels, Bars and restaurants line the beach front and extend until the hills surrounding Patong.
Patong Beach Where to stay
Patong Beach has 3 parallel roads along the beach, the one by the beach is the beach road or Thaweewong Road.
The next road is Rat-U-Thit Road, or the middle road, this road is about 150 - 250 meters from the beach.
The 3rd road or Nanai Road, winds along the hills surrounding Patong and is 1.5 - 2.0 km from the beach.
On each road you find many hotels, resorts and guesthouses, as well as private apartments and villas.
Accommodation with sea view are mostly on the beach road, or further back at the 3rd road in the hills behind.
